Sort Admin vs Apple Notes for household admin
In short: a note is a great place to write things down, and it’s already on your iPhone. What it can’t do is tell you when something is about to renew. You’d need to add each date to the Reminders app separately and keep the two in step. Sort Admin keeps the details and the reminders together, and tells you what to do when one is due.
Side by side
| Apple Notes | Sort Admin | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free, built in | Free for your top 4; Plus for unlimited |
| Reminders | None in Notes itself; set them in the Reminders app | Built in, for each item, at the times you choose |
| Structure | Free text, organised your way | Renewals, documents, accounts and “where things are”, each with the right fields |
| Knowing what to do | Whatever you wrote down | “What to do now” steps for each kind of renewal, and a savings total |
| Privacy | Lock individual notes; end-to-end encrypted in iCloud if you turn on Advanced Data Protection | Everything encrypted on your phone before it’s saved or backed up, with its own Face ID and PIN lock |
| Sharing | Share a note with anyone | Not yet; each person has their own private vault |
When Apple Notes is enough
If you only want a list of where things are kept, or you’re happy to set reminders by hand in the Reminders app, a note costs nothing and works well.
When Sort Admin is worth it
If your notes say “car insurance renews in March” but you still find out from the renewal letter, Sort Admin is the missing reminder. It also gives you a checklist of what most homes need to track, so you’re not relying on remembering what to write down.
