About Sort Admin
In short: Sort Admin is an iPhone and iPad app made by Luke, an independent founder in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. It keeps your household’s renewal dates in one place, reminds you before anything rolls over, and shows you what to do to pay less. There’s no account, no tracking and no way for us to see what you store.
Why it exists
A household runs on dates nobody writes down in one place. The car insurance renewal is in an email from last year. The mortgage end date is on a letter in a drawer. The MOT date is on a garage receipt, the boiler service is a vague memory, and the passports are “probably fine”.
None of it is hard. The problem is that it’s scattered, so things get missed, and a missed renewal usually means paying more: a mortgage rolling onto the lender’s standard variable rate, an energy fix ending without anyone noticing, a broadband price creeping up after the contract ends. We call that the renewal tax.
Sort Admin puts those dates in one private place and reminds you at the point where acting is worth it: weeks before an insurance renewal, months before a mortgage fix ends.
“I wanted one place for the dates that cost money when you miss them, and I didn’t want to hand that information to anyone to get it. So the app keeps it on your phone, and we never see it.”
Who makes it
Sort Admin is made by Luke, who works in marketing and built the app alongside his day job. It’s an independent business based in England, trading as Sort Admin. There’s no big company behind it, which is why there’s a real person at the end of hello@sortadmin.com.
The app is being built in public. You can follow the progress, from the first prototype to App Store review, on Instagram at @sortadmin.
What Sort Admin doesn’t do
- Ask you to make an account. You open the app and start. Your details are never stored on a server of ours, because we don’t have one.
- Read your data. Everything is encrypted on your phone before it’s saved or backed up. How we protect your data explains how, in plain English.
- Track you or show adverts. The app contains no analytics or advertising tools. If that ever changes, we’ll update the privacy notice and the App Store privacy label first.
- Sell leads. We don’t pass your renewals to insurers or comparison sites, and we don’t earn commission from them, so nothing in the app or on this site steers you towards a particular provider.
- Hold your data hostage. If you stop paying for Plus, everything you’ve added stays readable and every reminder keeps working.
The app is free for up to 4 items. Sort Admin Plus removes the limit, for £9.99 a year or £39.99 once, and covers your Family Sharing group. That’s how the app pays for itself.
How our guides are written
The articles on this site explain UK household renewals: when to act, what the rules say and what to do. Every one follows the same standards:
- Checked against the source. Every figure, date and rule comes from a source checked on the date shown at the top of the article, with links in the text and a full list at the end.
- Official sources first. GOV.UK, the FCA, Ofgem, Ofcom, the DVLA and DVSA, then Which?, MoneySavingExpert and Citizens Advice.
- Dated. Prices and rules change, so figures say when they’re from (“in April 2026”), and anything not yet confirmed is labelled as such.
- No favourites. We don’t name a “best” provider or comparison site, and there are no affiliate links.
- Guidance, not advice. The guides are general information. For a mortgage, speak to a whole-of-market broker or your lender.
- Approved before publishing. Luke reads and approves every article before it goes live.
