Everything, together

In short: Sort Admin started with renewals, because they’re the admin that costs money when it slips. But it’s built to hold all of it: the dates, the numbers, the paperwork and the “where is the…?” answers your household runs on. One private place on your iPhone and iPad, encrypted, with no account to make.

Right now, it’s everywhere

Think about where your household’s admin actually lives. The car insurance renewal is in an email from last year. The mortgage letter is in a drawer. Your passport number is on a photo somewhere in your camera roll. The boiler service date is on a sticker on the boiler. The stopcock, the fuse box and which bin goes out this week are in someone’s head.

Each of those is fine on its own. The trouble starts when you need two of them at once, on the phone to an insurer, filling in a form, or standing in a flooding kitchen. Sort Admin is where they all go instead.

What it holds

Each thing gets its own place, and all of it is searchable.

  • Renewals and deadlines

Car and home insurance, the mortgage fix or tenancy, energy, broadband, phone contracts, MOT, vehicle tax, boiler service, TV licence. Each with its date, provider, price and reference.

  • Documents

Passports and driving licences with their expiry dates, plus scans of policies, certificates and letters, kept with the item they belong to.

  • Your details

The numbers you’re always asked for: car registration, passport and licence numbers, policy references. Tap to copy.

  • How the house works

Where the stopcock and fuse box are, which bin goes out when, where the spare key lives, how to top up the boiler pressure.

  • What it all costs

Monthly or yearly prices, in any currency, and a running total of what you’ve saved each time you pay less at renewal.

  • Accounts and notes

That an account exists and where its details are kept, plus notes for anything else. Never passwords: those belong in a password manager.

How it keeps on top of it

Holding everything is half of it. The other half is the app telling you when something needs doing, and what to do.

  • Reminders at the right time. Six months before a mortgage fix ends, 25 days before car or home insurance, when quotes tend to be cheapest, and whatever suits you for the rest. Passports and licences get reminders before they expire.
  • What to do now. Open a reminder and you get the steps, not just the date: get quotes, ring your provider with the reference ready to copy, log the new price.
  • The household checklist. A list of what most homes need to keep track of, from the mortgage or rent to the boiler service. Hide what doesn’t apply, add your own, and work through it at your own pace.
  • Your home score. A score out of 100 for how sorted your home is, and the quickest way to raise it.
  • Always to hand. A Home Screen and Lock Screen widget counts down to your next renewal. Ask Siri “What’s my car reg in Sort Admin?” and it opens straight to it, after Face ID. Press and hold the app icon to jump to your vault or add something new.
  • On your iPad too. Use the same Apple Account and everything appears on both.
  • Out when you need it. Export any item as a password-protected PDF, to print or send.
“If you’re the one who knows where everything is, that knowledge deserves somewhere better than your head. Writing it down once means you stop carrying it round.”
Luke, founder of Sort Admin

Private, because it has to be

A place that holds your policy numbers and passport details has to be trustworthy. Everything you add is encrypted on your device before it’s saved or backed up to your own iCloud. There’s no Sort Admin account and no server of ours, so there’s nothing for us to see. The app has its own lock: Face ID, with a separate PIN rather than your phone passcode. Reminders never say what’s due. Read how we protect your data for the detail.

Start small

You don’t need a free weekend to set it up. When you first open Sort Admin, tell it whether you own, rent or drive, and it suggests the three renewals that cost most when they slip. Each needs a name and a date. Add the rest when they come up: the next time a renewal letter arrives, scan it in.

What it costs

Sort Admin is free for up to 4 items, with reminders on all of them. Sort Admin Plus removes the limit, for £19.99 a year or £49.99 once. Plus works with Apple Family Sharing, so one purchase covers up to five others in your family group, each with their own private vault. If you ever stop paying, nothing is locked away: everything stays readable and every reminder keeps working.

Questions

Is it only for renewals?

No. Renewals are where most people start, because they’re where missed dates cost money. But documents, details, notes and how the house works all have a place too.

Does it work if I rent?

Yes. The checklist covers rent as well as mortgages, and you can hide anything your landlord looks after.

Is it on Android?

Not at the moment. Sort Admin is for iPhone and iPad.

How is it different from a notes app or a spreadsheet?

Notes and spreadsheets hold information but don’t remind you at the right time or tell you what to do. See how Sort Admin compares.
